ESG TOWARDS CARBON MANAGEMENT IN FORESTRY AND WOOD INDUSTRY
"Way Forward for ESG and Forest Carbon,"
is a collaborative initiative organized by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), with the support of the Malaysian Timber Industry Board (MTIB). This collaboration highlights the pivotal role of the timber industry in Malaysia.
The one-day event will gather key stakeholders, including representatives from the Forestry Department, the timber industry, academic institutions, students, NGOs, and senior officials from various ministries. Approximately 250 participants are expected to attend, creating a vibrant platform for discussion and cooperation.
The workshop aims to address pressing issues related to carbon management in the forestry and timber industries, with a particular focus on the potential growth of the carbon trade sector, projected to reach RM 3.4 billion over the next five years. Given the fast-evolving nature of the carbon trading market, this event offers a timely opportunity to explore the challenges and opportunities within these sectors.
The conference will foster collaboration between academic institutions and research organizations, both nationally and internationally, paving the way for future joint projects and publications. Participants will gain valuable insights, new research ideas, and networking opportunities that will contribute to achieving sustainable development goals and advancing the field of conservation biology.
